Over the Weekend

Last
weekend Shawn and I got to do some serious bonding, which is fine by both of us.
Our favorite things are shopping for books, shopping for cheese, reading books
and eating cheese. And we did a lot of that last weekend. We also had a trip
Upstate to Bear Mountain for Oktoberfest, which didn’t go as planned. I know I
sound like a bad sport but waiting in line forty-five minutes for a beer and an
‘okay’ bratwurst and then to find out they are sold out of  oversized pretzels is…disappointing. The
ambiance, however, couldn’t be beat. We walked around Lake Hessian wishing we
had more time to wait in line for another beer but we had to get back for a 30th
birthday.
Sunday
was all about eating and the Lower East Side. We went to the Grubstreet
Festival (which is sponsored by the magazine I work for) and then bopped around
eating and chatting and failing at finding Shawn a new and “unique” (?) hoodie.
Enjoy!
Lavender Lake for dessert and one last cocktail.

Olivier Bistro for oysters, escargot, scallops and mussels.

Bear Mountain’s Oktoberfest: only for the patient. How gorg though!?
A shiny sweater and a wonk-eyed date for Jen’s 30th in Tribeca.

A Doughnut Plant cinnamon apple dougnut that lasted ten seconds.
Nike High Tops and Uniqlo jeggings at the Grubstreet Fest.

One World. One Taste. One Knish. That’s It!
