Viva Mexico

Being born and raised in Minnesota, I’ve come to appreciate snow. Minnesotans (mostly!) love snow, especially because they are so accustomed to it that they know exactly what to do in case of a snow storm, which is usually to go about business as usual. This is not the case in most other places, New York City included. Snow storm Jonas hit while we were on the beach in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and kept us from flying back to New York as planned, so we made the World’s Best Detour to Ixtapa, Mexico where my parents were staying (for three weeks)! We had three days of living vacation life with two nannies (my parents) who were great at their jobs and also paid for everything.
I want to thank JFK airport for cancelling so many flights because of the snow that I got an extra three nights of vacation.
Here are some highlights, tips, and shopping info!

This is actually just right our from our table at a restaurant! This was our third trip together to Mexico and our third time making the trip to Akumal to have fish tacos at La Buena Vida located right on the beach. The restaurant also boasts an actually-spicy spicy margarita and a POOL.
The view from our palapa! Similar beach cover up here
Sunglasses // Quay, Carrier // The Honest Company for Beco
Tip: We borrowed a beach tent from friends that easily fit into my (admittedly huge) suitcase. It was perfect for Juliette beach naps and very easy for Shawn to put together and drag around the hotel (notice I wasn’t the one putting this together…) I can’t find the exact one we used online, but here’s a similar option.
We stayed at the Mahekal Beach Resort in Playa Del Carmen for most of the trip, which was totally gorgeous from the lobby to our palapa-style rooms. We loved it and can’t wait to go back!
Airport smiles on the way to Mexico.
Sunglasses // Karen Walker, Suit // old, similar here and here,

Dress // Urban Outfitters, Sunglasses // Quay

Tip: We were thankfully prepared for how much Juliette loved the pool! This baby pool float with a sun shade (genius!) is less than $20, folds up in a suitcase, and the swimming wore out Juliette that she napped very well so we could enjoy some R&R.
Tip: One margarita is enough when traveling with a baby 🙁
and…that’s it! Until next year Mexico!

What is the toy that Juliette has on the table with the chips and guac? We will be traveling with our son, Conor, when he is 4.5 months and I'm trying to figure out a good toy or 2 to bring to keep him occupied. Does Juliette like it? Worth it? Thanks!

  2. Hi Bev! I added a shopping link to this, but you can definitely just search for "sassy wonder wheel toy" online and there's a few options.
Honestly she likes this one okay, but her two favorites are:
Eric Carle Light Up Firefly Developmental Toy, and
Hug & Tug Musical Bug, both are found at Barnes and Noble. Thanks for coming to P.S. and good luck!
